20 minsRobotics pilot for Kamlakar TrustMelli Annamalai

Melli Annamalai & Akshay Bhole spoke with Vasu Sreekakolapu of Nashua NH who founded a company called Kriyative Edge that provides STEM learning programs. He has offered to provide a robotics pilot for schools in Hyderabad area for a steep discount. We think it is a great initiative and would like for the chapter to consider funding a pilot for Kamlakar Trust

Standard price is INR 2000 per student per session. Asha is being offered a price of INR 200 (approx) per student per session for 30 students at Kamlakar.

Priya Mocherla to provide feedback on whether it is feasible to conduct this program at the project. Then, rest of the chapter can vote on approving the additional budget to run this pilot.

Here are some pictures and media coverage for Vasu's company

5 minsMelli AnnamalaiLearning Network conference

Learning Network is a conference started by several former Asha US volunteers. As the website says, "The Learning Network started in 2003 as a collaboration of individuals and groups involved in holistic education. The Network is a space to help the groups and individuals reflect, learn, and grow through collaboration, feedback and meaningful exchange of work, ideas, resources and needs."

After a gap of 8 years, the conference is being revived. Rajeev Annaluru, formerly with Asha Boston and former Asha-wide president/coordinator and is now based in Bangalore and is part of the team organization the conference in 2018 (May 31 - June 2).

Three folks from SVYM, a long time project partner, plan to attend the conference. They are leaders in SVYM on various education projects (tribal education, Science education, and the Viveka scholar program). One of them requested a subsidy on the registration fee, which is INR 7000 (early bird), and INR 8000 (regular fee). After a brief discussion we felt a 50% subsidy was a good idea. So, we would like to support INR 4000 for each attendee.

Shall we support INR 4000 for two attendees (total INR 8000) from SVYM for the Learning Network conference?
