Via Phone Conference Call - 4 PM (30 minutes)
Attendees: Rashi Jain, Pallavi Tyagi, Saranga Arora, and new member Sneha Antani
Supporting our Projects
Rashi conducted the meeting in lieu of Dilip, who is in India at present.
Rashi shared the information about the ARC proposal cycle 2 voting with the attendees. Dilip has access to the ARC form and its contents, and he will share with the group items from the ARC form that require votes from all active chapter members, ahead of the deadline for submitting the form on Nov. 16.
Rashi also shared the projected funding needs for 2019. The funding needs for projects and fellowship that we are supporting in India in 2019 come to about INR 62.5 Lakhs or about $85,000.00. The breakdown is as follows:
- JBVS-Lodhar School: About INR 23.5 Lakhs
- Ek Kadam: About INR 35.5 Lakhs
- Mahesh Fellowship: INR 3,96,000
Saranga shared an update about her outreach efforts. She has contacted two institutions, including GMU, and has received positive responses from both in terms of providing a platform for Asha DC to raise funds for the projects that it supports in India. (Saranga will share more details as a follow up via email.)
Our Next Meeting date - Dec. 2, 2018 (Sunday at 4pm)
Dilip, tried to follow up on voting for 2018 ARC proposal cycle 2 after returning from India on Nov 25th. But could not reach most of the floating volunteers.
Dilip was finally able to contact Rashi Jain and Gurjeet Singh over the phone. All 3 of us voted for 25K for the single question (B) from the just concluded ARC proposal 2018 cycle 2.
Note: Asha DC Chapter has been losing all the volunteers one by one over the past year or so. Even though a few new people showed interest to join ASHA DC over the last year, after attending the meeting over the phone, they slowly disappeared. Right now only 3 of us (Rashi Jain and Gurjeet Singh and I) and regular. But we do not have any activities. We are not sure how long we can continue with just 3 people. We support a few projects. we sent some money to them around the middle of 2018. We need to send more money by the end of December.
- Mahesh ji's fellowship: INR 33,000 per month x 12 months = INR 3,96,000 (or roughly $5675) to cover past six months and the next six months
- Asha Trust - Ek Kadam: INR 9,37,000 (remaining balance from proposal to be sent) or roughly $13,430
- Lodhar School - INR 11,97,000 (remaining balance from proposal to be sent) or roughly $17,155
Some other chapter has to take over these projects sooner or later.
