Discussion points:

  • Introducing new volunteers:

    We welcome the new volunteers.

  • Projects funding:

    • Sandnya Sanwardhan Sanstha:
Akshay Bhole called in to discuss about his site visit experience. We agreed to send INR 15,00,000 in September 2017, that will be used to cover the cost of construction of wheelchair accessible special bus, for the period May 2017 to April 2018.
    • Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Sargachi:
We agreed to send INR 28,97,000. This includes INR 19,31,000 for the vocational training activities and INR 9,66,000 (WAH 2016 budget) for manufacturing solar power devices. INR 28,97,000 sent in September 2017 will be used to support vocational training program for the village youth, and for the student exchange program between IIT Jodhpur and RKMA Sargachi to manufacture solar power devices, and other operating expenses, for the period May 2017 to April 2018.
    • Kalyania Prayas Center:
We approved 3 lakhs for Classmate - Educator Project of Kalyania, but will wait to see if Atlanta or some other chapter can support it.
    • Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Narendrapur - Book Bank:
We approved INR 3,00,000 to cover the cost of purchasing books, educational materials and other materials of the book bank, and other operating expenses, for the period April 2017 to March 2018. We also discussed about the proposed Vivekananda Child Development Project and decided to ask for a revised proposal.

        • Projects funding Votes: For all the four items above

Yes: 6 (without counting the new volunteers, but they all agreed with the funding decisions)

    • We also discussed about the possibility of corpus funding (discussed and voted on 4/14/2017 AthensMeetingMinutes_2017_04_14) and we still agree to do the corpus funding, provided the project partners need it, given the interest rates have gone down in India in the recent past. Abhyuday to check more on this.

  • Other fundraising ideas :
Garba will take place in October. ISA volunteers will have another fundraising event for Asha for Education in November.
